Afternoon Tea & Harrods

Authentic afternoon tea in London has been a highly anticipated activity for my friends and I. We finally decided to go for it on Wednesday afternoon, and picked a place near Knightsbridge station, the Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel.

It was a beautiful Autumn day, so we opted to sit outside.

The waiter brought out a delightful array of jams and honeys to choose from, along with our own individual pots of English tea.

The platters of finger sandwiches, scones, and desserts were to die for. We had cream cheese and cucumber, smoked salmon with cream cheese, and for the meat-eaters, chicken pesto sandwiches. The scones were the best I've tasted yet, warm and soft in the inside with a perfectly baked crust on the outside. On top, we had a super decadent chocolate mouse, creamy creme brulee, a butterscotch tart, and a mini NY-style cheesecake.

And the tea kept flowing!

Obviously, our plates were cleared.

We then walked down the block to Harrods, the British department store equivalent to Saks 5th Avenue, but probably even more extravagant.

We didn't linger too long, as we all had a bit of homework to get done, but I'll write a more proper post on Harrods when we go for a good few hours. The Christmas decorations are already coming out, so I'm sure it'll be even more beautiful the closer we get to the holiday season!
