La Boqueria and Parc de Monjuic

There's a famous food market in Barcelona called La Boqueria, located right off a shopping avenue called La Rambla.

The selection of foods here is truly overwhelming. You could take a Catalan culinary tour right in this market, starting with freshly squeezed fruit juice, to stuffed local olives, crisp sandwiches and delectable desserts.

After munching our way through the market, we decided to make our way to Parc de Monjuïc, a huge expanse of parks and museums sitting on top of a hill overlooking Barcelona.

We had an enjoyable cable car ride to the top and were amazed by the fantastic views all around the castle.

After exploring for a bit, we decided to head down back into the city to do some window shopping. We stopped in at a tapas restaurant to try out some new dishes. We of course had to also order patatas bravas.

If at all possible, these patatas bravas were even better than the first ones we had. They were lightly browned on the outside and perfectly fluffy on the inside. They were so ridiculously good that we just had to order a second dish!

The other star was this little plate of grilled mushrooms, brought right over from the market only minutes before they were served up to us!

After a bit more of poking our heads into shops, we settled into a sweet little cafe recommended by our tour guide for some authentic churros and chocolate (or xurros amb xocolata as they'd say in Catalan).

Having had an exhausting 3 days in Barcelona, we soon retired to our hostel to rest up and recover for the following week of traveling still up ahead.
